Our Aims

The Mitchell Powell Foundation was set up in April 2022 with the aim to continue the legacy of Mitch’s charity work.

To help the families of young people who are faced with life-changing health conditions and to provide support to grieving families.

British Heart Foundation

Mitchell was awarded the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Charity Fundraiser of the Year’ award in 2013. 

Mitchell's Work

Mitchell worked tirelessly to support individuals, fundraise, and signpost a variety of charities whilst living with a congenital heart condition.

His Legacy

We intend to continue to raise awareness and support the various charities that Mitchell was passionate about. Together we will continue the legacy of his charity work and support to local people.

1994-2021

Mitchell Powell

Mitchell Powell from Waun Wen, Swansea, was born with a heart condition and underwent more than 20 operations throughout his life, including open-heart surgery at the age of five. He dedicated much of his life to supporting others and fundraising for charities close to his heart.

February 3rd 2021

Mitchell sadly passed away at the Bristol Heart Institute whilst undergoing double heart valve replacement surgery following a cardiac arrest. He was a beloved charity fundraiser, dedicated to helping others and an avid football fan.

Mitchell raised tens of thousands of pounds during his life even though he was battling his own heart condition.  He would always find a way to help others and would do everything he could to support local people going through hard times. 

His love for football

His love for football

Mitchell loved football and despite not being able to play himself, he constantly supported his favourite teams and helped manage his local team, while establishing the junior section at the Maltsters.

His family

His family

Mitchell is a proud father to Lylah, a much-loved son and brother, and a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved by family and friends.
